How to watch your favorite TV shows on XBMC!

For those who have been waiting a long time for my tutorial on how to watch free TV shows, here it is. I've opted to create a blog rather than make a video...this way, it's easier to read everything.

First, before we start, it would be best to explain what the software you are going to use is. This software is called XBMC, or the XBox Media Center. Originally, this application was made for the first XBox. Now, it's branched off to almost all operating systems. XBMC is a perfect application for those who want to watch their movie or TV show collections in a very simple and amazing way. And, with the right add-ons, you can watch free TV shows and movies with it!

So, before we start, you will need to download XBMC. Click on this link and download XBMC for your operating system. After downloading the installer, install the application and fire up XBMC. Look around a bit--it's quite the amazing program!!! :)

Now, it is time for a disclaimer: XBMC is free software, and it a perfectly legal program. The add-ons that you are about to download also are free and legal. However, this is time for you to make the call. If you are a person who would go to a website and watch a stream of a TV show, or would go to YouTube and watch an episode of your favorite show, these add-ons are for you. If you would only watch TV shows from the channel's site, or with services like Hulu, Netflix, etc., and not use third-party sources, then this is not for you.

Now, follow these steps to install the add-ons you will need. First, go to "System" on the main menu. With the down arrow on your keyboard, go down to the submenu and press enter on "File Manager." Mouse down to "Add source" and press enter. Now, press enter on the box that says <None> and type in the following:

http://fusion.xbmchub.com

You will want to name this source "Fusion" or anything you want, so long as you remember it. Now, press the escape key on your keyboard and you will be back on the main menu. Now, press enter on "System" and you will be taken to the main settings menu. Now, mouse down to "Add-ons" and press enter. Mouse to "Install from zip file," press enter, and in the new menu, select "Fusion," or whatever you may have named it. Now, select "video," select "repositories," and select "icefilms-repository.googlecode.anarchintosh-projects.1.0.1.zip." It will install. Now, you'll want to go back to "repositories" and select "projectfreetv_giddyup-repository.eldorado-1.0.2.zip." After this installs, go back to the "video" directory you were previously in and select "add-ons." Now, install "plugin-video-1channel-2.0.2.zip." Now, press escape and go back to the add-ons menu.

Now, select the "Search" feature on the add-ons menu. You will want to search for the Icefilms and ProjectFreeTV add-ons. When you find them, install them by pressing enter. You will have confirmation on the bottom of your screen when they install.

Next, you will want to press escape until you are back at the main menu. Mouse over to "Videos" and select it. Under this menu, select "Video Add-ons." If all went well, you should have Icefilms, ProjectFreeTV, and 1Channel addons in the menu.

Each of these add-ons has their own advantage. Icefilms is not very good for TV shows. While it may contain some, it is primarily best for movies. Most movies are in 720p quality. ProjectFreeTV is great for TV shows. It has most popular TV shows and almost any episode from any season. All shows are in great quality. The best for TV, however, is 1Channel. This add-on has all episodes of most shows that I searched. The only downside is sometimes that 1Channel's servers get shutdown by attackers. It isn't very stable sometimes.

Whenever you select a movie or TV show on all these add-ons, you will be met with a selection screen to choose your source. All of these sources will work for you. If one gives you an error message, select another one. These are purely the streams for the episode. Sometimes, they will be taken off the web, and you'll have to pick another source.

Well, there you have it! Here's how to watch your favorite TV shows and movies on XBMC! :) If you have any questions, comment on this blog. Stay tuned to this blog for more great XBMC tutorials. I am going to be making a series on how to kick your cable provider and watch your favorite TV shows using PseudoTV, the best add-on for XBMC there is.
